Songwriting Workshop

FOR: Ages 12-18

Presented in partnership with Tuggeranong Arts Centre, this half-day workshop will kickstart your songwriting journey in a fun, supportive, and inclusive environment. Learn how to turn everyday experiences into songs, spark your creative practice, and pick up practical tools to start writing. If you play an acoustic instrument, feel free to bring it along—plus a notebook for capturing ideas. Beth is an ANU School of Music graduate and a long-time Canberra music educator.

 

About the Tutor

Beth is an ANU School of Music Performance graduate and has been teaching music in Canberra since 2008. Over the years, Beth has tutored hundreds of students of all ages and levels in guitar, bass, ukulele, songwriting, music theory and performance.

Beth is currently the co-creator and director of Song to Studio, a community music program run by ANU’s Community Music Centre where she is also part of the Community Rock School tutor team. In the past, Beth has been a guest tutor for Girls Rock, a holiday music program, and taught music history through the Centre for Continuing Education.

Beth has been an avid performer in the Canberra music scene for over 20 years, performing as a solo singer-songwriter and in various bands. She has been fortunate enough to share the stage with the likes of INXS, Chris Isaak, Julia Jacklin, Jebediah, and Sarah McLeod. Beth currently composes and performs in local four-piece band G&T-Rex.

Beth’s priority is for her students to have a positive and meaningful connection to music.
